From September 11 to 13, the 25th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE) was grandly held at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center.
At booth 2B113, Hongshi Intelligent showcased its theme "Microchip Leading · Infinite Scenarios," focusing on three major MicroLED micro-display chip scenarios: AR glasses, digital headlights, and micro-projection experience zones, attracting attendees to experience and interact.
This event also marked the debut of Hongshi Intelligent's Aurora A6 micro-display chip, which garnered widespread attention in the industry with its ultra-high brightness of 8,000,000 nits.
The AR experience zone, digital headlight experience zone, and micro-projection experience zone were the highlights of the booth.
In the display area, Hongshi Intelligent's Aurora series micro-display chips and MicroLED light engines were fully showcased. The combination of various experience zones and cutting-edge MicroLED display technology products provided a perfect visual feast for attendees.
MicroLED New Product Launch: Aurora A6 Steals the Show
At Hongshi Intelligent's booth, the new MicroLED product Aurora A6 became the highlight of the event. This is the first appearance of Hongshi Intelligent's Aurora A6 micro-display chip, which is only 0.12 inches in size and boasts ultra-high brightness of 8,000,000 nits and 6,800 PPI, with single green display.
The Aurora A6 is the result of four years of self-developed technology by Hongshi Intelligent, using advanced 8-inch wafer-level silicon-based gallium nitride chip production, self-developed quantum dot conversion, and pixel isolation anti-crosstalk micro-lens technology.
This further enhances the maturity of the process, laying the groundwork for mass production. Some attendees commented, "The Aurora A6's advantages in size, brightness, and power consumption perfectly meet the needs of current AR glasses ODM manufacturers and brands." Typically, people want AR glasses to resemble regular glasses in appearance and comfort while also having excellent display capabilities, which is challenging. From the perspective of AR glasses product definition, the 0.12-inch Aurora A6 is smaller than a pinky nail, aligning with the extreme pursuit of compactness in AR glasses.
However, reducing size inevitably impacts product endurance and performance. Given that the optical module is the largest component in AR glasses, the compact Aurora A6 is undoubtedly the best choice for space-saving.
Besides its "good figure," the AR glasses' resemblance to regular glasses lenses plus display capability distinguishes it from other XR terminal types.
This means that waveguide display solutions are almost the first choice for all AR glasses manufacturers today. However, the technical maturity of waveguides still needs improvement, and it is confirmed that the transmitted display image cannot fully match the conceptual design.
This is because during transmission, light propagating between gratings or diffraction media involves unnecessary refraction or reflection, causing the light source to experience exponential brightness attenuation along the waveguide path. This ultimately results in distorted images, poor dark performance, and even unusable displays in outdoor environments.
The Aurora A6's ultra-high brightness of 8,000,000 nits is suitable for various waveguide display lenses.Even considering adding optical lenses and waveguide sheets outside the chip, it can still ensure an eye brightness peak of 1,000-2,000 nits. This brightness performance ensures the all-weather wearability of AR glasses, providing stable and vivid display performance even in outdoor strong light environments.
In 2024, with an investment of 1.2 billion yuan and a total land area of 80 acres, the construction of the Huzhou Mogan Mountain factory will commence. Hongshi Intelligent's micro-display chips will have a production capacity of 1 million pieces per year, making it one of the few domestic companies with mature mass production capabilities.
MicroLED scene case progress meeting attracts audiences to experience
At Hongshi Intelligent's booth 2B113, visitors were greeted by luxury cars and beautiful models. At the electric vehicle headlight position, Hongshi Intelligent's smart digital headlight solution with an embedded Aurora A7 MicroLED light engine was showcased.
On the wall, road information projected by a 1,000,000 nits light engine was visible, with both single green and color display options available. With the popularization of smart cars, the evolution of headlight displays has progressed from xenon lamps to LED pixel lamps, and now MicroLED headlights will further enhance them.
Imagine, with the integration of the entire vehicle's ADB system and embedded MicroLED light engines, car headlights can adjust beams according to driving needs, not only providing illumination but also guiding ro
utes according to navigation; when pedestrians pass by, the headlights can transform into zebra crossings or slow down signs to remind drivers and pedestrians to stay safe...
Smart digital headlights achieve intelligent headlight illumination, seamlessly integrating smart car systems and ADB systems to improve driving safety, making them an indispensable part of future automotive development.
Hongshi Intelligent is committed to the field of smart digital headlights, bringing the high brightness, low power consumption, high pixel density, and self-luminous characteristics of MicroLED display chips to such products.
Their performance surpasses similar products, offering smaller size and longer lifespan advantages.Moving to the right, a carefully constructed darkroom facility was visible.
Moving to the right, you can see a carefully built darkroom facility. Here, the use scenarios of Hongshi Intelligent Aurora A6 monochrome micro-display chip in wearable devices are demonstrated.
Two AR glasses fixtures provide a fast and convenient viewing experience for the audience. Compared with other display chip solutions, MicroLED has obvious advantages in terms of volume, power consumption, battery life and brightness.
The 0.12-inch volume of Aurora A6 can be seamlessly integrated with the temples of glasses. The AR glasses exhibits in the on-site display area well show the appearance of Hongshi Intelligent Aurora A6 built into such wearable products, and its appearance can really be very close to ordinary myopic glasses.
In addition, the AR optical waveguide display module developed with partners was also displayed in turn on site. The audience praised the imaging performance of the ultra-bright MicroLED optical machine combined with the mature diffraction optical waveguide solution, and more partner projects are being implemented in an orderly manner.
The micro-projection experience area on the far right displays 7 "small desk lamp" products. Each of them has a built-in Aurora A6 MicroLED light engine. The wick of the small table lamp is like an embedded ultra-small projector, which can display various interesting pattern animations on the desktop.
The "small table lamp" product is very suitable for use as a low-cost advertising machine in elevators, KTVs, bars and other places. This has a better effect than traditional DLP projectors, and its small size also allows its appearance design to blend in with the design style of the room.
At present, Hongshi Intelligent's 8-inch silicon-based wafer substrate process has made a breakthrough. Based on the years of accumulation of the original Shanghai R&D Center, Yancheng Factory, and Shenzhen R&D Center, with the completion of the new factory in Moganshan, Huzhou, Hongshi Intelligent will achieve an annual production capacity of 1,000,000 pieces.
The three experience areas show the audience three completely different MicroLED usage scenarios.
This also proves that MicroLED, as the future of new display technology, is playing a positive role in all walks of life. Hongshi Intelligent will continue to deepen these fields, relying on nearly 7 years of deep R&D accumulation and a complete process production system to bring customers a mature and mass-produced high-quality product experience.
Focusing on the theme of "Microchips Leading Unlimited Scenarios", the booth 2B113 of Hongshi Intelligent is opening with great enthusiasm. In addition to the products and experiences mentioned above, Hongshi Intelligent will also welcome the first 0.12-inch single-chip full-color MicroLED display chip with a brightness of over 1,000,000 nits.
If you want to be the first to know the performance of MicroLED in various landing scenarios in the future, or have a strong curiosity about the future of AR glasses, you are welcome to come and experience it from September 11th to 13th.
